A pesquisa e a coleção A coleção parte de pesquisas sobre alfaiataria na cultura e moda carioca, e parte dessa primeira fase de entrega desse trabalho que envolve a história da moda é inspirada nas mulheres da Mangueira que foram responsáveis por fantasias, festas, enfeites e comidas que embalaram a história da escola. “Surgiu então a ideia de fazer essa coleção movida pelo Sankofar, pesquisando no acervo e em fotos antigas da Mangueira, imagens dessas mulheres e de suas rotinas, observando suas roupas feitas por elas mesmas ou pelas costureiras locais. Cada detalhe desses modos do passado, daquela roupa de domingo, inspiram looks atuais, adaptados a uma roupa de alfaiataria leve e carioca”, conta a estilista. “Sankofa” é um ideograma africano representado por um pássaro com a cabeça voltada para trás ou também pela forma de duas voltas justapostas, espelhadas, lembrando um coração. A etimologia da palavra, em ganês, inclui os termos san (voltar, retornar), ko (ir) e fa (olhar, buscar e pegar). O conceito de Sankofa origina-se de um provérbio tradicional entre os povos de língua Akan da África Ocidental, em Gana, Togo e Costa do Marfim, que pode ser traduzido por “não é tabu voltar atrás e buscar o que esqueceu”. ✨ Workshop de beleza e cabelo.
